Fruitways Celebration

On Thursday 18 and Friday 19 August 2011, Fruitways staff celebrated the consolidation of the different apple and pear business units behind a single brand and identity. The farming, packing and marketing businesses will in future be trading as Fruitways. The celebration involved a cook-off competition amongst staff on the Thursday to see who can prepare the best “potjiekos” – a traditional South African dish. The day was filled with laughter and fantastic entertainment and the delicious food was enjoyed by all. The celebrations continued the following day where functions were held on the farms and at the pack houses. There was a real BUZZ at all sites with everyone in good spirit!

A surprise visit on both days came from the founder of the business, Mr. Douglas Moodie. He is celebrating his 100th birthday on 16 September 2011 and although it was four weeks early, he was already in a party mood and appreciated the spontaneous “Happy Birthday!” songs.
From all Fruitways staff: “Congratulations Mr. Moodie, you are an inspiration to us all!”
